It's This!

This is the two tiered table that I was fixing the stem on in my last post.  I had been wanting to introduce CeCe Caldwell's Destin Gulf Green and Cinco Bayou Moss to each other... and they hit it off right away!  I expect to see them together many times in the future:)  When it's right, it's right!

This table was asking for a bit of a rustic, weathered finish, and that is what it got with bits of Cinco Bayou Moss peeking out from all that lovely Destin Gulf Green. I love happy furniture:)

What the heck is that?

But of course, it is a lovely old mahogany table getting a little wobble on the top shelf fixed.  Now this may look a tad unconventional... but I am a use what you have on hand kind of girl... and you have seen than same pot put to use in the past:)

Ok, so the explanation:  The top layer of the table had a wobble.  It was not due to the screws being loose at the plate that attaches the stem to the top.  So a little wiggling later, I discovered that it was due to the stem itself being loose in the plate.  That calls for some glue.

Now, I am not a big fan of Gorilla Glue for furniture... precisely because of that puffy ring you see in the photo... and the fact that you could pretty much take a belt sander to it and not be able to smooth it out for aesthetics.  But, this is the underside of the table, and it will never show... and the Gorilla Glue will hold it really well.

The challenge with a table top is getting it level.  So bring on the plywood which creates a platform for all three legs... and a cooking pot full of water that I set on the plywood and moved around until the little bubble on the level indicated that I had it. (Unless you are using a level that provides feedback on multi-dimensional leveling, you will want to set the level in different spots to get an overall read on it.)

A Longing for the Sea...

A longing for some time at the ocean prompted me to paint this sweet little table in CeCe Caldwell's Nantucket Spray. I can just see the cottage in my mind, smell the ocean, and imagine sitting in a comfy chair with a good book... and setting my morning coffee on this.  Ahhh... longing..

I call this color Hennessey Hay:  It is equal parts Cinco Bayous Moss and Texas Prarie.  The back panel is done in Vintage White.  A gentleman walked by while I was painting it in the store and asked "Why don't I smell paint fumes?" Because there are none with CeCe's all natural paints!!

What Can You Do with a Couple of Samples and a Couple of Hours?

This is one sample pot of CeCe Caldwell's Spring Hill Green, and one sample pot of CeCe's Clear Wax.  One square of fabric.  One brush, and one piece of cheesecloth.  See what you can turn this into in just a few hours...

Add one garage sale chair...

Sorry for the blurry pic!  Here's a more clear one... shows the condition of the chair;)

Add two coats of paint.  Wait for them both to dry.  Take an old, damp washcloth and "distress" your chair wherever you want it to look aged.  Add one coat of clear wax.  Staple the fabric to the seat and reattach... and voila!
